Entities & groups

The corporate register is the backbone the modules attach to. This page is the operator's map of it; for the model itself see The platform model.

The register at a glance

Under Entities (/dashboard/entities) you navigate the hierarchy:

Group → Entity → Branch
  • Group — a client relationship. Open a group to see its entities, the account manager, and the portfolio rollup.
  • Entity — a legal company. The entity page is where most reference data lives.
  • Branch — a branch or representative office under an entity.

What hangs off an entity

An entity carries the statutory picture and the work attached to it:

  • Officers — director, secretary, auditor, CEO, manager, nominee appointments.
  • Shareholdings — share classes, holdings, and share transactions (allotment, transfer, transmission, buyback, split).
  • Addresses — registered office, business, and mailing addresses (effective-dated).
  • Business activities — SSIC codes, with a primary flag.
  • Controllers & charges — the controller register and registered charges.
  • Product subscriptions — which products are enabled for this entity (this is what makes a module's nav and intake appear).
  • Module artifacts — payroll cycles, journal batches, FS engagements, XBRL filings, tax years.

Effective-dated records (addresses, shareholdings, the controller register) keep history rather than overwriting — the register can be read as of any date.

Scope and what you see

What appears is governed by tenant, scope, and role:

  • A group-scoped role sees every entity in the group and the rollup.
  • An entity-scoped role sees only its assigned entity.
  • A module-scoped role sees only its module's surfaces on those entities.
  • No role sees across tenants — enforced at the database.

Why work attaches to the entity

A client is a group of companies, but filings, payroll, and statements are done for a specific legal entity. Anchoring artifacts to the entity (or branch) is what lets one client login span a whole portfolio while each obligation stays correctly scoped to the company it belongs to.
